On December 1st, 2011 Local Rule 3015-2 went into effect that makes it possible for people in a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy to buy a vehicle without setting up a court date. A letter from the trustee is still required, but no longer is a Motion to Incur Debt 100% necessary. This is a very big step for the State of Washington.
If your plan is already confirmed, then we are often able to obtain Chapter 13 Auto Financing with little or no down payment. These programs work great for newer vehicles that have low miles on them.
If your plan is not confirmed, or you want to get an older vehicle with higher miles, usually a down payment is required. The amount of down payment will vary depending on your situation and the vehicle, but it is doable.
