I am considered an eligible candidate for the Cash for Clunkers program – however I do not have the pink slip on my 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara XL. Hmm. If you do not have the title, I do not know if you are eligible. Even if you were, what you owe on the Vitara would make a huge difference. You only get the Cash for Clunkers money OR the trade in value. Not both. If you owe $10,000 and you get $4,500 Cash for Clunkers money, then you are still in the hole $5,500. That would make it next to impossible to buy a new car and get a payment under $300…especially if you do not have perfect credit. However, if you only owe $5,000 more options would probably open up.
